24 things I've learned in 24 years on Earth

Today is my birthday so I thought I'd have some fun with it and share some of what I've learned in 24 years on Earth.

  1. Never wear red while shopping in Target - Along the same lines, never wear navy blue in Walmart

  2. Learning is a lifetime skill that should not be reserved for school

  3. You get what you pay for - This is especially true when it comes to shoes in my experience

  4. Prejudice is not dead - stereotypes are meant to be broken

  5. Living in fear is not living at all - I'm a positive person and fear mongering is not my thing

  6. "Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light" - Dumbledore

  7. Do not try to do a flip on a wet trampoline - you will mess up your nose like I did

  8. You don't always have to tell everything you know - especially when it comes to social media

  9. Music and smells can really transport you back in time - Purell hand sanitizer takes me back to Blockbuster video and musty carpets

  10. "No one likes you when you're 23" - Blink 182

  11. There is no such thing as a free dog or couch - it might come with fleas

  12. Unconditional love was really what Jesus came to teach us about - showing us

  13. Memphis is home and like a brother, only those of us from the 901 can talk bad about  it - Memphis Lives in Me

  14. Tech is a perfect example of #2 on this list - most of what I have learned in tech is self taught

  15. Never pay full price for something that will go on sale

  16. House and Home do not mean the same thing, but you can have more than one home and it doesn't have to be a particular location

  17. The movies I want to see aren't always showing in West Tennessee - ex: Selma, Into the Woods, The Last 5 Years

  18. Weddings don't have to be expensive - if you get married at the courthouse, you are just as married as a couple who paid $30K

  19. Reality TV is not what its title would suggest

  20. Dating/being married to an actress, there is never a dull moment - Chelsea

  21. I have had wonderful opportunities - Memphis Central HS, Bethel University and living between 2 states all of my life has really prepared me for anything

  22. You can't change anyone's opinion by posting on Facebook

  23. The church was created by humans, not God - tradition for tradition's sake is dumb because we are not perfect and neither is the church

  24. “Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” - Apple Inc.
